May · Day 24
Earnest love and hospitality
Reading
Practical meditation
Peter says: above all, earnest love. Not decorative love, but love that covers offenses, welcomes, serves, and resists grumbling. Christian love must gain a body in concrete gestures.
This does not mean pretending sin does not exist. It means not turning every failure of another into a personal courtroom. The natural soul calculates, compares, and demands. The life of Christ covers, serves, and opens space without performance.
Hospitality is more than receiving people in a tidy house; it is becoming a welcoming presence. The love that comes from God is not a perfumed idea. It touches time, table, listening, patience, and availability.
Examine
Has my love for the brothers and sisters been concrete and welcoming, or merely correct in words?
Prayer
Lord, cause your love to gain a body in me. Deal with my calculating soul and let Christ love through me with patience, welcome, and service without grumbling. Amen.
Practice
Let us practice one simple act today of hospitality, welcome, or care for someone specific.
