May · Day 26
Glorifying God in service
Reading
Practical meditation
Peter says that whoever speaks should speak as the oracles of God, and whoever serves should serve by the strength God supplies. The aim is clear: that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.
Spiritual service is not self-promotion with holy vocabulary. The soul wants to appear even when it serves. Therefore, we need to observe the intention: do we serve to express Christ, or to be seen as useful, deep, and necessary?
When service comes from the strength God supplies, it carries light without demanding a stage. God is glorified when the life of Christ appears more than our signature.
Examine
In my service, have I sought to express Christ or to protect the need to be seen?
Prayer
Lord, teach me to serve by the strength you supply. Silence in me the need to appear and cause Christ to be seen in what I speak, do, and offer. May God be glorified, not my image. Amen.
Practice
Let us do one hidden service today: useful, concrete, and without announcement.
